I love reviewing to unpopular opinions of some of my favourite shows and movies. I think they help me to look at them in a more critical way and in a different perspective. I reacted to unpopular Harry Potter opinions in my other blog. All of these opinions are taken from reddit.
So let's start!
1. Barbs death wasn't as big of a deal as people made it.
I agree and disagree with it. See I know where is it coming from. Barbara wasn't that important to the plot and wasn't a liked character. But if we see it from Nancy's perspective, Nancy never got a chance to apologise to Barb and she died a few days after they had a fight. So it's really depressing for Nancy, who felt very guilty because she wasn't on the best terms with her at that time. She was also angry because no one seemed to care about Barb now that Will returned. For us audience on the other hand, this wasn't a big deal, because she didn't have that much of screen time that we got to know her and she didn't add much to the plot. So we can say that everyone has different views on this.
2. The Dustin/Suzie song ruined the tension of everything that was happening at the moment. It should have been shorter. If they didn't sing so long Hopper would have had more time and could possibly still be alive.
Yeah I get that and I think the same way but Suzie didn't know what was going on here and Dustin couldn't possibly explain this whole thing that time. Maybe Suzie would just refuse to tell him the number and cut the call. Suzie is sitting on the other end of the globe talking over a phone so how is she supposed to know the urgency of the situation.
3. S2 E7 "The Lost Sister" completely destroyed the pacing and tone of the the end of season 2. The last 2 episodes of that show just didn't do it for me because I could not get over the terrible placement and execution of that episode.
I totally agree with this point as it doesn't really make sense about the "My mother sent me here for a reason" thingy because it didn't work and El ultimately returned back.
However we also got to know more about El's mother and how the Brenner abducted her. In this episode El also learns to stand by her morals and I liked the part in which we get to see the city and the outside world from El's perspective.
4. I didn't feel as attached to Alexei as everyone else did. I just knew that they were gonna continue their formula of 'introduce new quirky character that people will get upset about after they die'. Alexei's death was sad sure but it didn't really move me. The only death that really hurt for me wasn't Barb or Alexei but Bob. Bob hit the hardest for me as a possible step dad figure who truly wanted the best for the people he loved.
The most relatable opinion so far, it annoys me how people don't give a shit about Bob who was such a warm character and such a nice father figure for Will who was sensitive kid. But Alexei just came, did some funny stuff and became everyone's favourite character.
If you ask me to choose between Bob and Alexei, it will probably be Bob for me.
I had a lot of fun writing this post and looking at this series from the eyes of other people.
Thank you
